A third-generation diamantaire, Jochen Müller was born in 1951 in Idar-Oberstein.
After graduating from the University of Cologne with a degree in business Administration in 1977, he joined his father in the family business.
In 2001, he joined Giloy & Sons, an old-line jewelry firm in Idar-Oberstein.
Between 1987 and 1993, Jochen Müller served as chairman of the Bundesverband der Edelstein-und Diamantindustrie - Germany's Federal Precious Stones and Diamonds Association. In his capacity as chairman, he also served on the board of the German Gemmological Association. Since 1995, Muller has headed the Steering Committee of the prestigious INTERGEM trade show.
Having served as vice president of the Diamant-und Edelsteinbörse since 1988, Müller was elected to serve as its president in 2003.
From 1991 to 1996, Müller served as Treasurer of the International Diamond Manufacturers Association (IDMA).
Jochen Müller is widowed and has 3 children.
